Patrick Bergeron
Associate-Professor - Bishop's University
One of the main reasons behind my decision to pursue post-graduate studies and become a researcher is that supervisors/teachers encouraged me to channel my passion for biology into actual personal scientific and academic achievements. My teaching philosophy is shaped around the idea that students must possess a strong base in their discipline but should also develop problem-solving skills and become efficient and creative in their field of study. As a supervisor, I believe that my role is to motivate, assist and inspire students in biology, in an environment that promotes collegiality shaped around people. A former supervisor once told me that ‘’happy people make good science’’, and I strongly believe in that.
